In the 1970s, Sacramento, California, was haunted by a sick serial killer, a cannibal who drank his victims’ blood. Richard Chase, dubbed the Vampire of Sacramento, was behind the chilling slaughtering of at least six people. While his terror tormented the city, he consumed human blood.

However, his entire story is even more disturbing than that.

The Beginning of a Disturbingly Delusional Lifestyle

Richard Chase’s life did not have a cheerful start. After being born in 1950 in a strictly terrifying household, Richard developed delusional characteristics. Even though he showed signs of mental illness from a very young age, his abusive father contributed to his misery.

Richard had trouble adjusting to society. He would willingly set small fires and torture animals for satisfaction. Despite being diagnosed with repressed rage, Richard did not seek further treatment. Instead, he continued to display signs of sociopathy in the early days of his adulthood.
