Shelly Knotek, 39, lived with her husband and three daughters in Raymond, Washington. She doted on her girls and selflessly took in friends and family in need.

However, Shelly was ‘America’s Most Evil Mom’ behind closed doors. Ironically, the people she loved the most were the ones who suffered the greatest at her hands.

Dark Childhood

Shelly was born in an abusive household to an alcoholic mother who left when she was young.

Her mother’s absence caused a shift in Shelly, and she began tormenting her younger brothers. When she turned 13, she learned a shocking family secret.

Her mother had not abandoned her; rather, her father had beaten her to death. Shelly went insane and put glass in her shoes. She wanted to punish her father for what he did, so she wrongly accused him of rape when she was 15.

Two years later, Shelly ran away from her grandmother’s home and eloped with her husband. Her first marriage did not last, and neither did her second. However, she found love again when she married her last husband, David Knotek, in 1987.

He welcomed her two daughters from previous marriages, Nikki, 12, and Sami, 9, into the family.

Everything seemed to be going well, yet this was far from reality.

David was a retired Navy soldier who worked as a construction worker. He was madly in love with Shelly, and they had a daughter together in 1989, whom they named Tori.

However, it was not long before Shelly began abusing him verbally and physically. Yet, David was too timid to stand up to her.
