Putin is Going to Lose the War
Cold War 2.0: Is Putin losing his grip over the world order?
On 24th February 2023 Russian President Vlamdir Putin ragged war on Ukraine. He wrongly assumed that only in a matter of days he will sweep into Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. There has been a growing concern recently that Putin may be on the verge of losing the war he has been waging for years. The world has seen him using aggressive tactics in Ukraine, as well as meddling in the 2016 US presidential election. However, it seems that the tables may be turning against him, and he may be losing his grip on power.
This war has cost Putin a lot. The enmity of the West is not something that Russia can afford. Only a month into the invasion and Putin’s war claims showed a major shift. His retreat from Kyiv and Chernihiv is prominent evidence of this. The main aim changed to “liberation of Donbas.”
Such retreats from the battlefield reflect the Russian President’s wavering ideology and claims in front of the entire world. Further, the retreat rushed him into annexing four of Ukraine’s provinces without having any actual power over the region.
