Conman Pretending to Be a Rothschild Duped a Vulnerable Single Mother
Under the pretense of a loving partner, for years he was like a termite in her life.
Christine Handy was a single mother of three living in Cheltenham, England, when she met a good-looking yet mysterious man. He introduced himself as Alexander D’Ariken. In no way would she have anticipated that a man who seemed so kind would go on to sabotage three years of her life in the most horrific ways.
An Unexpected Encounter On a Monday Morning
On June 23rd, 2003, while going about her usual morning routine in an empty café, Christine Handy was approached by this unknown man. He claimed to have noticed Christine numerous times but was a stranger to her.
However, his sweet personality instantly attracted Christine. Looking at his attire and how he talked, he seemed like any trustworthy, well-educated gentleman. To Christine, no warning bells rang, and even though Alexander met her again the following day, she did not seem to find it odd. Instead, she felt pleased by his politeness.
However, while going through a divorce, romance was the last thing on Christine’s mind.
